13th Annual CADS-NCD Canadian Veterans’ Winter Sports Clinic

CADS National Capital Division (CADS-NCD) oversees six programs and services operating in the regions of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, of which the annual CADS-NCD Canadian Veterans’ Winter Sports Clinic (WSC) is one.

Our mission is to empower ill and injured veterans and RCMP officers by providing a supportive and inclusive environment for rehabilitation through winter sports. We strive to enhance their physical and mental well-being, fostering resilience and camaraderie through the transformative power of sport.

Our goal is to offer a comprehensive winter sports clinic that promotes healing, recovery, and personal growth. We aim to provide tailored programs that improve physical fitness, boost confidence, and build a strong sense of community among participants, ultimately aiding in their overall rehabilitation and well-being.

The WSC differentiates itself from other veterans’ programs by allowing the opportunity for an adult support person to directly participate with the veteran at the clinic.

 

 

 

CADS-NCD will fund all Canadian participants. Ski equipment with lessons from certified CADS, CSIA and CASI instructors are included in the 5 day clinic, as well as all accommodations and meals at Calabogie Peaks. However, all participants, instructors and volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to and from Calabogie Peaks Resort to attend the clinic.

The clinic is designed to support amputees, individuals with paraplegia and quadriplegia (though for safety reasons, we ask that sit-ski athletes weigh at maximum 220 pounds), the visually impaired, and those with a range of cognitive impairments. This week offers veterans a chance to engage in a healthy outdoor lifestyle that might not otherwise be possible for them..
